ISRAEL PULLS LAST TROOPS OUT OF GAZA, PALESTINIANS GO OUT OF THEIR WAY TO PROVE IT WAS A BAD IDEA

The BBC has a revealing and frustrating article on the final Israeli military pullout from the Gaza Strip.
Israel decided to leave without demolishing more than 20 synagogues, after rabbis argued the move was forbidden under Jewish ritual law. Palestinians condemned the decision, warning it would cause friction. Ministers had initially sought to raze the synagogues to prevent possible desecration by Palestinians. But they decided against it after pressure from leading rabbis. (...) "We don't want to be put in a situation that we are demolishing synagogues in front of the world," said Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat. Synagogues are offensive to Palestinians, but they don't wan't to destroy them themselves. Bad PR move, you see... Why won't those damn Jews understand that and destroy symbols of their own religion ? Obviously, they have no desire to commit to peace in the Middle East...
Another 2 cents on this whole mess:
